i would like to ask whether it is possible to use digital pots instead of normal pots for a baxandall one control circuit?..any suggestions?

Take a look at the DS1809 from Dallas Semi, It has a simple contact closure interface that avoids the need to use a microcontroller and also has non volatile memory so your settings are retained.

just make sure to keep voltages within the tolerances specified.
Not only voltages must be within spec. "Wiper" current also have a very limited max. value. High-impedance load to wiper must been provided.

Generally, the common problem with digital pots is that most of them are working from a single-supply voltage. So, any AC input signal must been biased to half of this supply voltage.
