Hello all! I currently am trying to get into the hobby tech field of vintage audio tinkering. I have a Fluke 115 that I have used in the garage for a few years now, I was thinking to keep that on in the garage and buy a new one for the inside audio work bench. I was looking at a Fluke 177 true RMS, does anyone have any suggestions? I do not want to spend extra money if I do not have to but at the same time, I have always believed that with some things you get what you pay for, for example my precision torque instruments I use when working on cars.
Thank you in advance for your time!

The specs and ranges of both are nearly identical except for the basic DC accuracy.
The 115 is certainly capable of audio work and I don't see anything in the 177 to justfy the additional cost.
The Fluke site has a feature to compare various models side-by-side, which is quite useful.

You can spend any amount of money of a DMM.
From a few dollars to many hundreds of dollars.
I found the cheapest ones can be very inaccurate.
I found the I didnt want to spend a fortune on one.
So I went for a Kaiweets $30 DMM which is good for the price.
For amusement:
Many years ago I bought a $6 DMM off a Chinese website.
After a month it didnt arrive so bought one locally.
6 months further down the line I had a knock at the door and it was postman with original DMM !
So 7 months for it to arrive, must be a record.

I thought the main advantage in audio of a fluke is the genuine high voltage protection. If you don’t work on tube circuits, one good dmm and a couple of cheaper ones will do. You already have a good dmm, I suggest something from uni-t, bought cheaply from ali express, will suffice. You just missed the 11.11. sale though. Don’t forget to add clamp/hook probes.
