Hi there,
My DAC has a simple RCA input, switchable to optical. I'm not using the optical input though.
I'd like to add a second RCA input, but don't know how to switch between the two RCA's. Simple switch, relay, logical gate?
Thanks,
Dan

It will not be ideal:

but it will do the job and depending on how good/modern your DAC is, there will be no loos in SQ. Someone even simpler using just a switch could also be DIYed of course 🙂

SPDIF is an analog and digital RF signal that carries both digital data and analog time reference information. Ideally it should be treated as RF, with any impedance discontinuities minimized. An RF rated relay could perform pretty well. A crude and sloppy switch arrangement might cause some problems, depending. However, for a cheap dac with marginal performance to begin with, technical details of proper switching might not make much audible difference, again depending.
If an extra coaxial input is all you need, This Device should serve the purpose by utilizing the existing optical input on your DAC, and you don't need to do anything to the DAC. If you would like some bells and whistles as well to go with, my Whazon SPDIF Switch project could perhaps entertain.
