Digital Active Crossovers vs Passive Crossovers - is there a big difference?

I know there are tons of bonus features and customizations with digital active crossovers, which interests me, but how about in terms of affecting the sound literally; like, does it contribute to a more neutral speaker?

This is an interesting question. I know some prototype in miniDSP and then build in analog (either line level active or passive). For me the joy is in the speed of trying things out. With a passive you have to pick your topology and go with it. With DSP you can change. With the 4x10HD I have I could, for example load 4 different cross-over types in and compare with a press of the remote. If you like that sort of things of course 🙂
