I would like to build myself a set of speakers for my computer, consisting of two speakers and a subwoofer. This is the easy part.
Next, I would like to build an amplifier that is compact enough to mount inside of the subwoofer cabinet, which will be able to power everything. I would like this amp to have the ability to decode a digital SPDIF input stream.
In addition to powering the speakers and subwoofer, I need some preamp functionality - bass, treble and volume. I would like the preamp to be a seperate unit that I can keep on my desk, so I don't need to reach around to the subwoofer each time I want to adjust something.
Could anyone point me to a project, kit or product that would allow me to accomplish this?

The Keiga 3100 might interest you. It isn''t quite what you were looking for, but very close. You'd have to do signal processing in your computer and it won't give you an S/PDIF input right away.
Wow, thanks! That is almost exactly what I was looking for. Are there any other amps like that, or is that the only one?
