Digital 2.1 channel amplifier for computer

I would like to build myself a set of speakers for my computer, consisting of two speakers and a subwoofer. This is the easy part.

Next, I would like to build an amplifier that is compact enough to mount inside of the subwoofer cabinet, which will be able to power everything. I would like this amp to have the ability to decode a digital SPDIF input stream.

In addition to powering the speakers and subwoofer, I need some preamp functionality - bass, treble and volume. I would like the preamp to be a seperate unit that I can keep on my desk, so I don't need to reach around to the subwoofer each time I want to adjust something.

Could anyone point me to a project, kit or product that would allow me to accomplish this?

Hi,

look at the MA2.1 from Hypex, sold by Intertechnik in Germany. They have other interesting modules too, including the UcD-based subwoofer module. I hope, there will follow 2- or 3-channel versions, ask Jan-Peter from Hypex.

Regards, Timo
