I have a couple of HD599 pairs (cable modded) and I prefer them to my stock HD600 pair.
The HD600 sit nicely in its box, while the HD599 is in constant use.

For me personally the HD599 pair is the undisputed winner of the HD5xx series (including the HD560S which also sits in its box).
HD600 is a classic headphone for sure, but soundstage and tonality is better with the HD599.
At least to my set of ears that is.
