Hey, Im building another guitar effect box for my friend and i have one question. It says use a 2N3904 transistor for the thing. I somehow ended up with the wrong one, it's a NTE133. I tried using it but the thing dint work at all. Are these close enough that they should work or could this be my problem? As aslways, help would be apreciated. Thanks
alright thanks
finding them wasnt as much the issue as was the question of whether or not that could cause this thing not to work. anyone think that could be the problem?

One is BJT the othe JFET. They are not interchanchable in a schematic. So you can't use the NTE133 instead of 2N3904.

Don't make On spend $5.00 shipping you a $.05 part. Go to your local radio shack and pick up any NPN transistor they happen to have. Save you time and save them money.
Oh, sorry, I don't look often at radioshack for transistors.
I just know, they charge $2 for that .05 cent part you mentioned.
I never even realized that they carried it. 🙁
