different light sources

I was wondering about a different light source and i thought about the light bulbs they're flourescent and they give off very little heat and they last for a long time i was just wondering if anyone has tried this or this doesn't work at all thanks

Yes, it has been tried and tested. flourescet bulbs are good for small LCD's (4", 5"), since optics can collect most of the light. for larger LCD's, you have to have a "point light source" in order to control the light better, so you can direct most of the light to the fresnel, lcd, and the projection lens.

so far, 250W HQI lamp seems to be one of best choices. It is small enough and doesn't produce too much heat. 150W CDM-T lamp also a good choice, if you are not going to make a large projection.

I like that idea but what if i had more than one of the bulbs would it make much of a differnece

still having some doubts..

Hi all, next days I'll buy bulb+ignitor+ballast for my setup.Can someone tell me for the last time if will be better 250 W metal halide or 400 w same type?My chooice should be osram hqi-ts series, 5400 k.I don't want to front a low brigthness situation if I'll buy 250, this is my doubt. Can someone tell me if this risk exixsts or not?
I'll use it with benq fp 567s and diylabs.org lenses..(I hope they'll come to me soon!!hurry up Alan!)

Look at the creation of Cruser. If you still have any doubt, then buy a 400W.

150w cdm-t, 250w hqi 400w mh they are all bright enough! it depends how u use it and what screen size your aiming for

more info on what your going to build first and what screen size your aiming for will and can give us and u a better idea
