I like This. There are PCBs and kits for sale.

For low, but not ultra-low, output carts like the Denon DL-103 you might have to change the R2 to about 1k. Ask the designer.

But as sreten said, the cart decides what headamp to use.

German Elektor stubbornly wrote always MD too. That was 10+ yrs ago...don't know yet.

Aha, OK. I don't think I have heard that term before and it is obviously a very ambigious term that, in my opinion, could just as well refer to any pickup, both MM and MC.
 
Perhpaps it is actually a very old term that was used when the first magnetic pickups appeared long ago, and I suppose those were of MM type. One of the archivists somewhere deep in my brain says he might have seen it in some old text somewhere.
