I have been using the principle for years, but I implement it in a different, simpler manner (IMHO anyway): I place the sensing resistors in the collectors, which avoids the need of multiple mirroring/translation.

With a single ended topology, the degree of compensation can be very high, close to perfection (BTW, the compensation is positive feedback, not negative).

In a PP, things are much more difficult: each half tries to impose its perfect output voltage to the other, and this ends in a destructive fight, unless some degeneration is added, but this degrades the performance.

This is the reason why I developped alternatives, with the complementary half asymetric, and slave to the "noble" upper half:
