I hooked up the light bulb, neat trick. And then started tapping around, as I was not getting the symptoms. The only place I can tap and get the symptoms is the low pass frequency adjustment knob. Recreated all symptoms.
Try cleaning it with contact cleaner. If it's plastic, don't try to desolder it.

Yeah just hit all the knobs with deoxit. Will reflow solder and test after the kids go to bed. I was also able to recreate the condition with the subsonic filter knob.
Don't heat the pots if they have plastic bodies. The low-temp plastic holds tension on the internal connections and if heated too much (easy to do), the pots will have to be replaced.
