In this case I was willing to take the risk, because it was my first time ordering. Next time I might do it the other way around.

Is it possible to configure the wiring on these boards to fit an 8 pin DIL socket?

the only problem is that you will need a ninth connection for the ground return.

Is that the one marked "out-grd"? If so are you able to suggest where to connect?

I cannot suggest/guess whether your equipment will have a close by ground point to use for that 9th pin.
I cannot guess whether the ground you do find is clean or dirty or signal or chassis or some other inappropriate ground.

Can I ask in what application you are using or intending to use your's?
