Desktop Purifi Build

These could work in a sealed config.
I also found the Bagby Continuum II design on Meniscus which is intended to be placed near a wall.
You really can't go wrong with Jeff Bagby's ContinuumII or the even smaller Sopranos.

The issue you are going to have, regardless of which speakers you build, is that the room depth is only 5.5' and there is a window on the wall behind you. With that distance and hard surface you are going to get early reflections, very early in fact, and that could significantly smear or alter the sound.

I do have a couple 1" thick panels up behind me (visible in the original post, gray cloth), but obviously the window is an issue. I just have a honeycomb style opaque blind in the window which I'm sure does about 0 good. I've considered adding some additional panels behind the speakers, but I'd need to pull the desk out over 1" and space is really at a premium in here.

It seems from looking at the picture that what you have is very similar to a sound mixing studio situation. That is, a room not very deep at only 5.5', and speakers on a table right up against a back wall. Essentially a near field listening situation in a small space.

So, you might want to consider a studio monitor type speaker, and for the that purpose the Bagby ContinuumII could be a very good answer. It's been reviewed many times here and in other places and as best I can recall all those reviews have been very positive. And being sealed it can be placed against the back wall, whereas other vented designs could be a problem there.

Also, if you get a kit from Meniscus Audio they will build and test the crossovers for you for a very reasonable price. That's what I have done in the past with the Piccolos and have been very happy with the results.

At High End 2022 in Munich Purifi demo'ed spk8 a design using the PTT4.0W woofer and matching PRs. The application note should be posted soon. If you have Linkedin checkout this video and watch the drivers dance at Xmax.

I have heard them and talked to @lrisbo it was great. Cheers Lars! You explained drivers to me in a way even I understood.

They were doing an impressive test with a large 10Hz sine put over the music. The modulation was going on and off. There was no difference in the tone when drivers were going really hard. It was crazy impressive.

PTT6.5M08-NFA-01 6.5" Ultra Low Distortion Midrange- 8 ohm

Satori TW29BN-B-8 Beryllium Dome Tweeter

These speakers are placed in sealed 0.55 cubic foot (~14L) enclosures on my bench. Speaking of bass the F3 is at 85Hz, not too bad.

Then there is a sub tucked in under the bench that switches in or out when desired.

Thanks DT

the 6.5X 08 NFA Purifi is the mid-bass driver on my bench
