Desktop in 16:9

My projection panel is 640*480. It only has VGA in, so I'm going to use a seperate video card from my main one to output to it from my PC. I don't have any white walls, so I plan on making a screen. Since almost all my movies are in 16:9(or 2.35:1), I plan on making the screen in 16:9 aspect. Is there some program or way I could make my desktop display in 640*360(16:9), without distorting or stretching it? The obvious advantage here would be that when a window is maximized it is not cut off. If you don't understand what I'm saying, I'll try to explain better.

Really there are three solutions.

1. Anamorphic lens (another DIY project)

2. if you have a nvidea card, they have a program for software keystone adjustment that can compress the image.

3. Forget it, for a 640x480 it is not worth it.
