Desired Beta for regulator pass transistor.

In a low current, low noise, series voltage regulator. Is it better to use a low or high beta pass transistor? I can see it two different ways.
-Low beta will be more resistant to noise generated by the voltage reference.
-High beta transistors will pass less supply ripple through, since they tend to have a higher dynamic impedance.

So which one ultimatly gives you a quieter output without using a feedback servo circuit?
