Hey guys, for my senior project I decided to make my own record player as my product.
Raspberry Pi ? Audio Infuser 4700 this is my inspiration to create something with a little more wow factor.
I know absolutely nothing about this kind of stuff. I don't know how to deal with power or cutting wood. Direct vs Belt drive. No clue how to connect the speakers or where to put them so that the vibrations don't effect the platter or arm.
If someone could point me to some specific articles that lay out important things to look at through my endeavor, that would be great.
But to start off, I want to design the turntable part of the device. I was thinking of getting an acrylic disk and using it as the platter. Then use a belt drive to spin it. Am I going in the right direction right now? Or maybe I should be asking if this would be simple enough for a novice to do?
What type of motor would be good for this? Where can I get a cheap, but good quality acrylic disk? How thick should the disk be?
Those are my starting questions for now. Any extra advice would be much appreciated!
