DEQ2496 problem

Hi Folks -

I've had a chance to play around with the Behringer DEQ and its semi-fathomable manual and menus, and I've got a problem that seems improbable, if not impossible.

I'm using an ECM8000, and the mike level is set to -37, per the instructions. When I work in the RTA menu, and specifically when I try to do auto EQ, the DEQ checks for background noise, then checks for pink noise level, and tells me that the pink noise level need to be increased, and stops auto EQ.

Here's what I can't understand: When the furnace kicks on, I can clearly see that the resulting noise is showing up in the RTA screen, high in frequency. When I play pink noise, however, it doesn't show up, no matter at what level I have it set in the DEQ or how high I have the amp turned up, except in those high frequencies, and then showing at very low levels. This is whether the furnace is on or off, by the way.

So my question is: Huh? How could this be possible? Am I missing something obvious, like an I/O problem, or am I losing my mind? (The latter is a strong possibility, by the way, since I've spent the last few days trying to set up a working wireless network for my SqueezeBox. Aargh.)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions - Pat

Thanks for the response, Jim -

I tried everything, at least twice, and sometimes five times. When it just absolutely wouldn't work, last night I reluctantly thought "I'm sure it's not the back panel connections, but I'll just check anyway."

Yes, the mike was plugged into the AES/EBU line input, not the mike input. Note to all: this doesn't work. :clown: - Pat
