A year or so ago I purchased a deluxe 5U aluminum chassis with aluminum handles. I went to purchase another one today, but the handles look completely different. Are the cylindrical handles of a year or so ago no longer available?

That's correct, those handles are not available anymore. The ones you see on the store are the only ones available
