I don't want to have to 'splain this again.

Besides, perforated metal is too damn expensive to ruin that way.

Yes, many high power detergents are alkaline and if left on the metal for too long they will etch it.

Non Toxic Soloution.

Scrubbing with standard green dishwashing detergent and then laundry cloudy ammonia, rinsing with high pressure hose, and then blast dry with compressed air does the job perfectly.
Also good for getting tannin stains out of teacups and getting wineglasses crystal clean.

Wow, I never expected this many replies. Thanks guys.

FYI, I ended up purchasing a commercial degreasing product from Lowes. (I don't remember the brand name) and taking it to a diy carwash. Those things are a ripoff man. 10 dollars for about 10 minutes of water.

Oh well, the combination of the degreaser and the hi-pressure H20 did the trick quite well.
