Deconstructing KEF C40s

@VespaSS_180

try the glue for metal foils from the goldsmith.

In germany called Anlegemilch. Also to be found on ebay.

Its soft and dampening. Did a tweeter coating with it in the same thread

Vespass_180, I can only go by my experience here, my method; 1: clean the existing cone with mineral turpentine, using a slightly stiff brush (may take more than one try to get it all off); 2: after the cone has dried overnight, paint the cone with one coat of 'Jasart Byron' fabric medium ('Made in China for Jasco") using a soft brush & let it dry for a few days. This stuff left the tweeter cones still flexible but sealed, and sounded fine to me. Of course, you may have to look for an equivalent wherever you are on the planet, here it's available in fabric and art stores. Some other coatings, such as Damar varnish, dry more stiffly. I have used it in the past to restore old cone drivers, but the stiffness does add high frequency peaks. Good luck with your search.

Freedom666, damping textiles will take away reflections, but here I think I need to add a bit more level at the appropriate frequencies, which means xover modding to me.... Cheers all!
