IMO to make the Jordans compete (soundwise) with the Tannoys, you'd have to add some sort of lower-frequency augmentation (maybe just a powered subwoofer) to the Jordans, but apparently that's not part of the deal.
Personally, I think the Berkeley cabinets (if in good shape) are beautiful. Sheesh, people pay tons of money for that sort of mid-century modernist work.

need to make the Tannoys new cabs as the old ones are lacking in WAF in a BIG way.
Slightly taller, slightly narrower, curved back, B&W copy matrix bracing, ported and same volume if possible....
But damn they will be big! Maybe the Jordans would be good enough with bass sugmentation?
If I do rebuild the Tannoys I'll need you guys help to get the cab right.

Don't even think about getting rid of those Tannoys, except for a rebuild!
Seriously, even with major bass-augmentation from a monster sub, you're going to get a very different sound from the Jordans. I'm not knocking them -just warning of the pitfalls. If you did decide to go this way, I'd advise mounting them in a TL designed via Martin King's MathCad worksheets, with the twin dipolar subwoofers from Siegfried Linkwitz Phoenix project supplying the bottom-end heft, which will still be sadly lacking (you'll find them here: http://www.linkwitzlab.com/woofer.htm ) That would be a truely excellent system indeed, but, as I say, very different in its sound to what you have at present.
It shouldn't be too hard to rebuild the Tannoys into a more modern looking cabinet (though I too love the old type radiogram look -grab some of the Stephen Fry & Hugh Laurie Jeeves and Wooster DVDs and indoctrinate the good lady in ' real style' -it's very similar to the Tannoys!) using the same dimensions. It won't be small, as you say, but your ears will love you for it. And, bonus, you're wife implied she doesn't mind the cabinet size so long as it's pretty! If this is the case, with all due respect to Fred Jordan: it's a no-brainer! One other possible alternative: Smallish (i.e. narrow) open-baffles for the Tannoys a la Linkwitz, designed via the Edge program (very good I think) with the same subs mentioned above to provide the bottom-end heft lost via the acoustic cancallation that's a consequense of a small baffle. That'd be relatively acceptable domestically, and sound good too. Those Linkwitz subs, although less-than attractive as they stand, should be easy to prettify for domestic harmony and bliss.

I though you were going to the the baloon thing?
I would think you can get pretty good base with the JX92. I have gotton acceptable easy listening bass with much smaller drivers. But just to hope for earth shaking base. I should be good for most vocals, jazz, and classic. Hard music, it would depend upon the type, but don't expect hard punches, you would need larger drivers for that.
still doing the baloon thing for the bedroom will use the tangband...
but i think i'll use the Tannoys for the main system in the living room as thier sensitivity (93dwm+) will allow a low powered valve amp (SET?)
I have not even heard a valve amp before so I am looking forward to hearing what a high sensitivity full range driver can do with 20lb of iron and a glowin tube up its backside 😀 😉

Just make sure it's got decent output transformers, or you'll get that soggy bass so characteristic of classic valve amps. Try a World Audio Design Kit. Their KEL84 isn't expensive, has just about the best transformers out there, and with 15w/p/c it'll cheerfully drive your Tannoys to 'disturbing the peace' levels all day long. Plus, EL84s are cheap, reliable, considerably more stable than the larger EL34 and sound better than anything up to a 300B.
I like the sound of the WAD kits and have already discussed them with t'other half.........and she does not like the look of them!

Typical. Would it help if you told her that a set of matched quad Western electric 300b valves costs circa $1800, when you could get the same in EL84s for around $80? (fat chance, right?!)

Although this will be my 1st build I want to make sure that it is the best it can be. I have permission from the boss to make a cabinet and want it to be the best i can do.......(until I feel the need for a rebuild ) I like the Tannoy DC sound and so will keep these drivers but will upgrade the crossovers.....
I'll post the details of the driver, the rough dimensions and some ideas in the next couple of days. Any help, especially from those of you with Win ISD etc (and who can use them.....cause I cant!!!) will be much apprecieted!

One idea that I had when my Goodmans 201's were in large cabinets, was to inset a wide strip of mirror into the front baffle. It should make them seem transparent and if you keep some nice wood at either side it should also look rather classy. 
(And 'the other half' can spend most of the day doing her hair in front of them! 😉 )
