Interesting thoughts.
FYI there are 6 billion discrete components placed on PCB's every day, and the far East assembles 80% of all electronics...
I'd love to disagree with some of the points, but having done numerous PCB designs for both ends of the spectrum, for a lot of consumer and white goods, there are severve constriants on cost. But there is a spread of quality, some cheaper items are well designed and have reasonable components, some high price products are, well cheapness taken to a new low (but big profits!!!).
I dont even think you can use the adage of "you get what you pay for" these days.
Trouble is we expect to pay peanuts for mediocre productas that as been said are either out of date in a year or superseded by an updated model, nothing is built to last.

I am an electrician doing projects in powerplants etc. I have experienced in real life that the custumer is given the choice of a standard solution at one price, an a superb solution at a different and higher price, so why not in audio aparatus?😕
