Hello everybody,
My first post out of desperation.just received a well used early version FFSS Professional arm and need to find new pivot bearings, if not at least find out what they are made of, they have some sort of black material that the arm bearings sit in ??

Any help much appreciated as I can find absolutely nothing reference design and materials used.

Thanks for any help.

This place has jeweled bearings. Another possible way would be to go to a clock repair service an perhaps they can make a bronze bearing for you. Don't know the quality of arm but the bearings don't exactly look high quality. Everything depends how much time, effort, money you are willing to spend to get the arm working. Good luck.

Wild guess here....the 'black-stuff is some sort of pitch/tar damping that has hardened with time and possibly soaking in turpentine will remove it and reveal the true (jewelled ?) bearing within ?
Would be good to see an image of the mating surface for these items...
