DEC DE2TU 24VDC 7A 250VAC relay replacement

Hi @Markw4 ,

Here is the photo, I know it has 6 pins underneath. I got nothing else unfortunately. DEC use to have the spec sheet in Japanese, but they have removed from their official website. I’m guessing it is because they don’t make it anymore. Is this enough information to find a replacement? I did some research on the web, some people suggested Omron G4W 2212P-US-TV5, but not 100% sure, what do you think? Thank you.

The vinlyengine forum references a DEC DH2U relay, not a DE2TU. The Panasonic substitute is not a drop-in replacement for the DE2TU since the pin spacings are different. I have not checked the electrical specs for differences. The DE2TU specification is attached.

You're correct, my bad. Sorry.

Edit1: In this thread it's shown the Omron G4 W-2212P-US-TV5 as replacement.

Edit2: Here the datasheet for DH2TU.
I's is described as "DH2TU is ideal for audio system protection" and 2 poles, crossbar twin contacts.

"The crossbar twin contacts have two contact points and have the advantage of a crossbar shape, making it suitable for opening and closing microloads."

So it has higher reliability compared to single or twin contact(s) and the same pin spacing.

The Omron G4W looks like a good replacement. The DH2TU is rated for 3 Amps while the DE2TU is 7 Amps. The PC board hole locations also do not match. A relay suitable for microloads is not the best for speaker output connection. I would use the G4W, not the DH2TU.

Thank you!

I found interesting the following Japanese page, where a DEC DE2TU-24VDC was compared and replaced with a MATSUSHITA JC2aD-DC24V, just for the record.

Edit to add: Please note that the Matsushita relay is still found as new somewhere on the Internet and that it is also considered more reliable and robust by the author, but also costs quite a bit.

Hi @pinifinina, on second tought and deepening the subject please note that there is also the possibility that you can clean the contacts of your relays without necessarily having to replace them.

The link above is from the same Japanese author and also explains how to do it (it seems that the cover of DEC relays is easily removable although the relays must be removed from PCB first).
Please note that in this second case the relays are DH2TU, but the way to clean them is the same as for your DE2TU. :)

Have a nice day!

Edit to add: Just remembered this thread full of useful tips, especially those from @anatech. ;)
