Debond epoxy

I have a situation at work. We have several heatsinks which need to be removed from ICs. The adhesive is Loctite 315 which is actually a modified Acrylic. I need to weaken the bond before I start leaveing it off. Loctite swears that nothing exists. but I know that Jewellers use a solvent for epoxy. Does anyone know of something available in the UK?

Contact the manufacturers, Loctite, they would be best placed to advise. They may be helpful.
It's a tough one, if the chips are scrap and you just want the heatsinks, then you could try high temperatures, everything burns at some point. I had an epoxy - potted amp that was relatively easy to seperate from it's heatsink after it burnt out.:hot: :smash:

Try boiling undiluted antifreeze for cars. Beware that is very hot as the solder melts!:att'n:
Chemical name: glycerol, boiling point 290 C.

If it's acrylic, try soaking in free-flowing acrylic cement (the liquid kind, not the goopy kind). You should be able to get this from any shop that sells acrylic sheet. If it's epoxy, try soaking in acetone. In either case, don't breathe this stuff.
