DC at the output, when u start the amp

Hello.

There is a weird problem with the amp .

When u power on the amp " WITH SPEAKERS CONNECTED" then there is a DC surge of about 8 volts at the speaker terminals, and creates a disturbing hum, loud enough to damage the speakers.

However if u POWER ON THE AMP with " SPEAKERS NOT CONNECTED" , then U CONNECT the speakers, then everything is absolutely fine and amplifier ROCKS!!

plz advise this is my first amp and I am getting bit frustrated!! how to resolve this problem?

Thanks for any insights

Actually... now that the mention it, I reccon this is what my amp does.... maybe.... well, it does something... but by my recollection it is dependant upon the volume.... makes the speakers jump.... I should measure it.. lol hmm... its not good I know... if ya want you could build a delay speaker connecting circut thing.. lol what happens if the input is muted when you power up the amp? (connect the signal to ground) still do it? lol I have no idea what I am talking about, but am interested in your problem (well, one of your problems anyway 😀)

Weird Problem

Hi Guys
This refers to my thread posted before.

The problem with my new homebrewed amp is:

IF U POWER ON THE AMP WITH" SPEAKERS CONNECTED " THEN A LOT OF DC WILL APPEAR AT THE SPEAKERS, it will not go, I repeat it will not go and will remain there for minutes or even hours!!!!! Some people will say that its cuz of transient which appear during the start up of the amps, but it wont go!!!!

If u power on the amp " WITH SPEAKERS NOT CONNECTED" then everything is fine!!

The circuit is time tested so no issues with it, I am using a PCB sold by the late author, so no issues on that front too!

PLZ ADVISE

May Day May Day

Can you tells us about the schematics or better show it? You may have an uncontrolled start-up with perhaps oscillations. It's an art to design an amp which starts smoothly, not easy.
