I am thinking of using Dayton Audio - RS225-8 - 8" woofer in a ported enclosure to act like a subwoofer (operating from 80Hz and below). Also this arrangement can be used as a woofer (300Hz and below.). And would switch between the two arrangement by changing filters.
how well do you think should it perform as exclusive subwoofer? This driver has a internet review of being a low distortion driver.

It has got a phase plug so it might chuff, depending on the tolerances. Furthermore its Xmax is only 7 mm. Other than that, it will work fine.
I was wondering how to handle the phase plug. 7mm Xmax is something I thought of to be too low. but not sure how would it work in my case.
