Just received a heads-up from Dave Planet10 that David Weems has passed away:
David B. Weems - 1922-2021 - A Tribute | audioXpress
Very sorry he didn't make it to a century, but he'll be kindly remembered by his family and the many thousands of audio, history and goat-keeping fans for his books, articles and by all accounts, by simply being a really decent person. Some of his work on quarter-wave pipes helped foster my interest in the field, and much of his work had a strong 'practical' angle, being written in a way that was accessible and encouraging to people just starting out in the hobby, who may not have otherwise known where to begin.
Thank you, David. God speed, and enjoy the music.

RIP David B Weems.
Designing, Building and Testing your own speaker system was my first book on speakers. Up till that point I was just shooting in the dark 🙂
David certainly helped me along in my Journey of speaker building!
RIP and thanks for the great contributions to DIY.

not a shabby length of life ! ~1970 I made a pair of T-line speakers from one his articles - box must have been at least 36 inches tall by 2 foot wide by 20 inches deep and loaded with a 12", an 8" and two Phillips Mylar dome tweeters.

RIP.
Like many, his writing was the introduction into this hobby and the source of much inspiration.

His book was my introduction into speaker building in 1982. The first line in the book is perfect "Welcome to the fun of speaker building."
I bought the Radio Shack book a long time ago. That was my first foray into speaker building. I still have that book.
Rest in peace Mr. Weems
