Dave Brubeck, jazz legend, dies at 91 - latimes.com
Yeah, I remember listening to "Time Out" as a very young child. I have SACD, CD and Vinyl versions of that album, probably the best known song on that album is "Take Five"

RIP Dave Brubeck. Time out will always be one my favorite.

Got in the car yesterday and Blue Rondo a la Turk was playing. It was an interview with Brubeck from 1999. Growing up, all he wanted to be was a cowboy, like his dad. They lived on a huge cattle ranch. Dave used to rope, ride and sing sad cowboy songs while paying his ukulele. Who knew?

Our bicycling club often rides past Dave Brubeck's childhood home outside Ione, CA. The road has been renamed in his honor:

I never heard him play, but sat a couple of rows behind him once at the annual Brubeck Jazz Festival at his alma mater, the University of the Pacific in here in Stockton, CA.
