What approach might be recommended to acoustically damp a steel amplifier chassis, particularly the top cover and bottom plate (while being fire retardant)?
The goal here is to reduce the metallic “dong” that a knuckle wrap makes, using something just a few millimetres thick.

You cut holes in the damping material to match those in the chassis, too.
What about the damping material made for car audio..
