Damping mats for sheet metal cabinet

I'm making a custom cabinet from 2mm aluminium and 1mm stainless steel shet metal.

Any good tips for adhesive damping material? I'd prefer to avoid asphalt due to the smell. And because I may sell the odd unit, the material should have defined flammability specifications.

Thanks,
Borge

Silicone is a good idea! Basically, there's the poured/sprayed damping material and the stick-on mats. The latter is quickly applied. One nice feature with the poured material is that it will cling to screw hole inserts added to the sheet metal.

Assuming the sound is what I want, I will put a CE mark on the end product. That means attach the flammability report of the manufacturer or pay some test facility $$$ to fail at lighting the thing on fire.

Over here, the DIY stores sell foaming caulking in a pressurized can. It's for sealing large cracks in your home, or to secure pipes inside a wall. It expands as it cures and once it firms-up it's like insulating foam: somewhat rigid, can be sawn, sanded and painted. I smeared it on the inside of a metal storage shed roof to keep the rain from creating so much noise. Very effective. A similar product is sold to create a custom packing system inside a cardboard (pasteboard?) container, conforming to the shape of what's inside.
