I have a pair of neo se ribbon tweeters that I use in a 2 way (4th order). They have been sitting in the corner of a room for a month or two, not hooked up to anything. They were never hooked up to an amp with more than 75 watts and there are a ton of resistors that pad it down to 90 or so db. when I first got it, my brother kept showing me how some of his magnets would make the ribbon move, and he would gently blow on them too for the same effect. When I unhooked them, there was no damage. When I went to hook them back up the other day one of the tweeters ribbons was all stretched out (outward closer to the mesh screen). It was not in the gap like it is supposed to be. When asked what happened, my little brother responded. "all i ever did was gently blow on it once." I believe that someone had to be messing with that tweeter to get it to be messed up the way it is, esp since it wasnt hooked up to anything. Am I right, or could there be another cause that wasnt the result of little brother being too curious.

This is the cause, dear Chris8sirhC, don’t look further. I believe spare diaphragms are cheap, though somewhat difficult to change if you have no such experience (better buy 3-4)

My dad is the youngest of 5 and would bend over backwards to defend little brother at all costs. I let him read what was posted and he just got mad and said it doesnt mean anything and you all are just kid bloggers bs'ing on the internet making fun of little brother. He now wants an official response from the manufacturer stating that their product doesnt have a defect that would cause it to be damaged in the way that it is....
