I am building a preamp with many different modules inside---preamp, high and low filters, headphone amp, and several balanced/unbalanced converters. I am aware that it is NOT good practice to daisy-chain the GROUND returns---I will run a separate 18 gauge wire for each of these to the power supply ground. But what about the positive and negative power rails? Can those be daisy-chained between modules without causing problems?
No ,normal practice in cases like this is to isolate each section/module with IC power regulators .
Some parts can be commoned but not the headphone amp , it depends what level of fidelity you want .
There are plenty of circuit diagrams online showing power supplies with multiple regulators for separate sections of audio circuits .

There are some cases where daisy chaining a ton of preamps and other modules is inevitable, such as in a multichannel mixer, where you may have 12/16/24/32/48 channel strips fed from a large +/-15V supply through power, signal, phantom, control and ground rails , in that case is customary to decouple each +/-15V feed through an 100 to 10 ohm resistor (depending on module consumption) and a, say, 100uF capacitor.
In fact, even if "unneeded", often a 10 ohm 1/8W resistor with long legs (separate from PCB surface) is added at each channel input feed so worst case it acts as a fuse, limiting possible short current and disconnecting channel, (of which are many available) so at least that night "the show can go on".
You said daisychaining? 😛

...........NOT good practice to daisy-chain the GROUND returns---....
"Ground Follows Signal".
