2sa991,
All of the original drivers can be found on CL or ebay. I have lived with a pair of early DQ 10's for 35 years. Yes a lot of people comment on the lack of quality drivers and squawky tweeters. I strongly believe that $120 worth of decent polypropalene caps turns this into a very nice speaker. No it never gets to the level of the Quad that Jon D. tried to create with cones, but setup right it will give you a wonderful near 3D stage. The biggest problem with the DQ's is that they require a lot of power, and very good amps seem to come apart before you get there. I don't know where you are but if you put the original stuff back in them and drive them with a silly little Nakamichi SR-2a with the 30 watt Stassis amp you would be surprised how good they really are. Of course a SR-4a or TA 4a will do better, but you will get the idea that it takes more than watts to drive DQ 10's. I have been working on my system since January when I picked up a SR-3a. Read any reviews about the solid punch and life like sound stage. My system is like being there!!!!

I see that in September lemontwin had a pair on ebay for $140 that didn't sell. that is not a bad price if they have had the surrounds replaced. They are around be patient, their are other drivers you can substituted but I would get it back to original first and go from there. I don't know if Regnar is still in business, but they may have them too. Re-capping makes a big difference if you have the older paper caps. It isn't cheap if you use good caps, about $180 dollars. What do you have in the pair you haven now.

2sa991,
What are you currently driving your DQ 10's with. They require a lot of current, not watts. I have had these since the 1980's. I have driven them with many tube amps and a Dyna 400 even bi-amped. I did not realize just how good they were until I found a Nakamichi SR 4a in January, it is only 60wpc but it sounds better than anything I have ever heard. I added a used $50 Polk psw404 powered sub just to round out the bottom I never had.. Just amazing!

The first 400 DQ-10's had CTS woofers. not Advent.

I modded the heck out of mine. I understand purists, but the woofer surrounds are toast by now. I found even the cheap JVC ribbon of the early 80's in place of the 1" dome and piezo and making it a 4 way, improved matters quite bit. The Philips drivers voice coil went out of alignment easily.

The huge metal screen in front of the drivers created a lot of cancellations and reflections. I got rid of mine.

I sold mine in 1988, and I cannot imagine that a mint stock pair could be found anywhere.

These days a 3 way DIY or kit - like the BMR Philharmonic is trimer, cheaper (if you include all the cost of recapping etc) and better sounding.

I sold high end audio back in those days and heard probably 20 different amps on the DQ-10. The Threshold Stasis 3 was the best, an early effort by Nelson Pass. So I bought my 1/2 brothers unit he was bored with. It didn't sound good on the Maggie I and II, and couldn't handle the Duetta and Scintilla, but dynamic from KEF 105, ProAc EBS, Vandersteen 4 way, Snell Type A - all very fine sounding with the baby Stasis,
