Greetings all,
while looking for another part, I found a genuine TDA1541A.
Is it still worth to build a DAC with it or would it be better to start with a more modern chip? If the former, could yo recommend a well documented DAC?
Kindest regards,
M

Audial tda1541a diy projects with pcb provided. Simply the best with that chip for diy projects imho.
Well, it is 16-bits "only" and can't go beyond 192 kHz or so. Some prefer its unique sound signature, though. It needs a lot of external components and good quality power supply with 3 different voltages (plus 2 for the analog part), but worth the effort IMHO.
I find the ad1862 simplier to work with for good sound enough, and there is a project with the pcb with free gerber avialable. The TDA1541A can be costly to make it sound very good and time consuming too.
hacking a ready made chi-fi pcb with a modern chip can be more straigthforward and less costly.

Hi diyiggy,
Thank you for the AD1862 reference, as it fits with my inquiry.
Hi lcsaszar,
thank you. Any recommendation?

Cannot find any PCB's here: https://www.audialonline.com/. Am I missing something?Audial tda1541a diy projects with pcb provided. Simply the best with that chip for diy projects imho.

SOmetimes projects popup on Audial with that chip, and imho the pcbs from 2014 and after are wothing it, if you can find one second hand.
But indeed no current project for the moment, people are just digesting the Aya5 du to the components shortage... In the meantime I would go for the ad1862 project or hacking a chiFi advised in that forum. Abraxalito member is solding some projects cheap with pcm chips but focus on avialable Phliips chips sourcable at Tobao.

Hi jmmbarco,
thank you for the references.
Hi Brijac,
I have already found the thread, but thank you anyway. It appears for just scanning through it, that there are schematics/PCBs and discussion for several different DAC chips. I will have to rad it all.
Hi diyiggy,
thank you for the clarification.
