I have a dac with cs4397 and replaced it with a pcm1794.
the signal is now very soft.
does anybody know how many volts AC comes out of the pcm1794
.

They are two completely different DAC's with the CS4397 being a voltage out part and the TI1794 as a current out part. The 1794 needs an I/V converter between the chip and the balanced to unbalanced buffer/converter in the schematic. This part puts out tons of current and is an excellent chip and in my personal experience much better sounding than any of the CS chips.
