DAC next to Tripath?

Has anyone tried modifying a Tripath based amp to mount a DAC nearby?

I was wondering about putting a DAC board (like the Pro.Dac from www.diykits.com.hk) next to a Tripath board.

Could a DAC chip drive the Tripath inputs directly or would the opamps still be required?

Most important - would it sound any good!

Thanks for any help

The TDA1543 will have no problem driving the Tripath. For other DACs you will have to increase the sensitivity of the amp and/or add step-up transformers.

It should sound good. Even better if you make it a CD player, DAC and amp in one. No need for an SPDIF-I2S converter.
