dac + digital filter + preamp

I would like to have all this on one pcb for tri amping, something like this:

One optical input to some kind of divider that splits the optical digital signal in 3 electrical digital signals.

The 3 electrical digital signals goes each to a digital filter for element/room correction and cutoff.

The 3 (or 6) filtered digital signals goes each to a dac circuit.

The 6 analog signals go each to a preamp circuit with balanced output.

(Then to 6 alephs driving a pair of linkwitz orion or something like that 😉

Should this work? I think the signal path would be pretty short in compare with separate units. Perhaps you could run it all on battery... Any suggestions on circuits to use??

The divider should be pretty easy to make, and for the preamp you could use bzls. But the dac and digital filter i have no clue.. perhaps i should settle for active filtering insted.. but thats not as cool 😉

The DAC shouldn't be too much of an issue, there are multi-channel DAC's around such as the DSD1608 (8ch) or the AD1833 (6ch) which feature 24bit and 96/192kHz data rate. look at www.ti.com annd www.analog.com and look at their audio data convertors.

What will be the big issue is the digital filters, you will need dedicated DSP chips, and these require a steep learning curve. I don't know too much about these, but look to the SHARC DSP's at the analog devices website for a start to see what you will be getting into. Desiging a DAC from scratch is within the realm of some here at DIYAudio, but very few are able to design and implement a DSP based solution.😕

I think your best bet would be active filtering, especially with the promised (and eagerly awaited) offering from PassDIY
