DAC AD1862: Almost THT, I2S input, NOS, R-2R

oh guys, is that really about listening all the old pcm dac chips the world made and past has not kept by choice ?

Then there are certainly other brands than the ones discussed here. Look towards manga old pcm dac chips or the non pcm but w/o filtering embeded ?

There is imo more to winn by working on PS, passive parts and layout to go further with what most know already about the winners : TDA1541A, TDA1540 (for the sport) ; AD1862 (PCM63 same same but different, for me less good), PCM56... eventualy one other for the peace of minds (put your prefered rzf here) !

Of course nothing wrong if for a thesis/research and non listening to music ! 🥷

Yes I know you also were beated by the mosquito dac chip tiger ! that's a disease guys ! But really, you should focus on the topology now miro1360 made the all the good job to compare most of the best pcm dac chips at iso perimeter (I would just not add the TDA15411A because it asks a little more tricky attention in the layout imho).

That is good there was a hard job on the oaps, passive parts and alternative discrete outputs already 🙂

Put into your collection also a pair of DAC702BH, you will never know when I bring it to the life 🤣
(it must be DAC702xx, where xx can be KH, BH, LH, CH, SH), CH and LH are the most precious (almost not available), KH is the least precious, BH with SH are in the middle (SH for wider temperature range, almost not available)
AD1862 awaits the fight :scared::fight:

@crymen AD1862 is on the TOP and I can listen to it everyday 😎 In my opinion this is the most universal DAC with the most balanced spectrum :cheerful:
... very good is also AD1865 (Iout configuration), PCM63 ... and maybe there will be more that I plan to test in the future :yummy:
But now I've been listening to the TDA1540 for the last few months, this one has unique bass performance :hphones:

@miro1360, I like the TDA1540 too. It sounds very analog and has some 'vinyl record' quality to the sound. Now I am giving it more attention than the TDA1541. 😂
Just because the TDA1540 sounds better :smash: The difference was evident at first hearing on the breadboard, but the CPLD solution was necessary. Now building instructions are available and people can DIY it 😊

DAC702BH DAC will be 100% designed in the future ... I can't guarantee if this year, but it will be 😎

What is the special character of the TDA1540 bass? More details, more punch? Louder😆 ?
