This is the kit I bought. Please notice the vendor will solder the surface mount chips for you if requested. That saves a lot of time and effort.

Found two items at Radio Shack. Which one (if either) is recommended? Both appear to have center ground.

I forgot to order the bridge rectifier KBP210-206.
Could i use any other that is easiar to find?
Eager to get it working.

What is the purpose of the 74HC04 board component?
And Is it possible to disable it?
it's a hex inverter if i'm not mistaken, and it's not bypass-able
By the electric drawing 74HC04 connected to the blue leds. He only turns on and off the leds?
Didn't think of it yesterday, but I do have the following in my upgrade package:
MC77808ACTG
MC7812CTG
MC7912CGT
Can I assume those are direct replacements not directly related to any other upgrade component?
(I did order the STMicroelectronics (L) versions along with a new AK4396 and 3 LM1117s already just in case.)

Hi Bob,
you can use them, they're direct (but better sounding) replacements.
MC77808ACTG
Typo?
They should be MC7809CTG

Yes and you might want to have another opamp on hand. Can I assume those are direct replacements not directly related to any other upgrade component?
Dario, yes that's a typo.
Fan, I didn't add the opamp to the Digi-key order but I found a new (new to me) electronics supplier a few miles away so I can get what I need quickly.
Thanks Again.

Hey, Hey. We got lights. We got voltages as listed in Dario's post #1304.
Haven't gone for sound yet. All three LEDs except "No Audio" are lit. Is that the way it should be with no connections?
When I first mounted the new regulators I was disappointed to find the same bad readings. Then I remembered I had seen some through-hole metal on a couple pins when de-soldering the old pieces. I put a tab of solder on the top of the PCB at each pin and - MAGIC.😀
Ready to hook up unless someone describes additional precautions to take.

Looking good so far, though no audio should be lit as well.Ofcourse make sure offset is in the low milivolt range. Were the solder bridges on the regulators?

Hi Fan,
3.7mv and 1.7mv. There wasn't a solder bridge - just some open joints at the regulator pins.

Cool time to give it a try me thinks.🙂Hi Fan,
