yeah, it's far brighter than it seems.
even so on a dull sky or inna dawn i can sit and watch.
i think ist's comparable w the pj's from t 800.
Wow Great pictures.
I've been lurking for a bit trying to understand how it all fits together. But It's difficult to get MHbulbs in the UK.
Can I just ask where you got the MH bulbs & starter from
Thanks

can i ask, what lens are using? can you focus the image from just the lens? im going to make a lil' PJ like yours and im still inquiting on what lens to use that can be adjusted to make the image focused.

lens is a 285-335 mm varifocus triplet i bought here http://www.exclusiv-online.com/shop/index.php?main=product&art=OSET1&whrg=USD&whrg=EUR
it's a complete kit containing lens, fresnel, condensor and reflector.
cost 64 Euro plus shipping. it lasts one week until i got it.
Now with zoom
a small update. I've built a zoom-objective from two bass-reflex-tubes. it works great.
the throw distance is now 4 m (13 ft). At 4:3 ratio the diagonal is then 2m ( 6 1/2 ft) at FL 330mm( 13").
A small sketch ( all in metrics) .

the lilliput has no s-video in. :-(
but i use instead dat box. works perfect. it has rca, s-video -in
and converts to xga out. da lilli eat this all. the osd-menu shows then 1024x768 (compressed) at 60 Hz and Hsync at 44,...kHz, depending on ya incomin' signal. no probs at all.
http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=219&products_id=3235&
in case using ya pc as dvd-player, u have the possibility for mirroring as well as flip of da image by using the nvidia settings, provided that u are using a graphic-card supported by nvidia drivers.

Excelent job on the lens, how can i get the lens you are using? i want to build a small projector and was thinking of using a portable dvd player which also has a/v input if i can find one with a 7" screen..
Does anyone know if the Portable dvd players will work. because they have a sharp picture.
Thanks, Joe

About the Lik-Sang VGA Box
Hi IEF,
So this box is really cheap compared with other VGA boxes on the net.
What what can you tell us about your results : Do the S-Video -> VGA conversion improve the definition, sharp and colors enought (vs the Composite Video in) ?
What about aspect radios ? (Sorry my ignorance on this) I mean, this box converts to 800x600 or 1024x768 resolutions (4:3) and the panel is 800x480 (16:9) native compressed to (800x600 or 1024x768). Do this conversion shrink the image vertically (to show 600/768 compressed lines -including black bars-) or do the Lilliput manage it to cover all the lines without the black bars? In resume is there any diference in aspect ratio conversion using the Video In or the Box+VGA in with a DVD player set to 16:9 output mode ?
Bernardo.

Well I just read the page on the converter, it says on it that it can be custom programmed to 16:9.
hey bfourcade
"Do the S-Video -> VGA conversion improve the definition, sharp and colors enought (vs the Composite Video in) ?"
Yes, it does.
no black bars at all cos the lillis manages aspect ratios.
4:3 is not shrinked but stretched. at 2,35:1 you have black bars on top and bottom very small.
in dvd-player osd-menu i've selected the wide screen mode, so i don't have the black bars.neither stretching nor shrinking.
also i use it with my sat-dish-receiver. the difference is remarkable.
well, when tv-signal is 16:9 you have black bars. dat's the only limitation.
i haven't tried to "customize" the box cos i'm satisfied w the resultz.
