Hola Enrique!
What?😕
Arcam Alpha 5 has:
Decoder: SAA7310
Digital Filter: SAA7220
Dac: TDA1541A
Transport mechanism: Philips CDM9
If it's in good conditions, get it!😉
Buenas noches.😎

Doesn't the Alpha 5 Plus only have the 'A' version whereas the standard (as I have) have the 1541 without A ?
Ive never opened mine up, but I may do one day as I believe it can be vastly improved.

Open yours, and find out.
At least on the schematic it says TDA1541A.
But be careful, don't tighten the screws too much, or next time you'll have to put a bigger one, the Arcams have very weak boxes.

Both the Arcam Alpha5 and the 5+ uses TDA1541A.
Nice machines once modded, the only difference is the Alpha5+ has a better clock circuit and a 74HC175 before the dac

I certainly agree with that😉
Again a bit of the same: open them only once and leave the cover off. Do what you want to do, listen and judge. When its finished you can screw the cover back on. Always seal the cdplayer with a cloth when not used and try to make this a one week job max.
There is an extensive explanation around here about what can be done with the Alpha 5 + ( and what not to do ). If you want to change the clock to a canned XO type I advise to make a shielding sheet of metal between the riser board and the DAC board.
