I inherited a Cyrus FM6 tuner but noticed it "forgets" the programmed preset stations when I unplug it from mains.
Does anyone know whether there's a battery inside, or a supercap or such?
I have not opened the tuner yet, and I do not have the schematics.
The user manual does not mention the memory at all.
Thanks!

Clean off the dust from the PCB, leave it connected to mains for a few hours.
Then see.
My Kenwood does that, especially in the rainy season.
Some sort of leakage circuit from a capacitor keeps the memory alive when there is no power.
After a few hours, the capacitor seems to start functioning.
Then it remembers, even if it is connected to mains for an hour daily. But in the monsoon, that goes.
I use it as an amp, so not a big thing for me to bother about.

Thanks; I actually do have a FM7 too (no RDS, but IMHO a nicer display+signal strength meter). Are you sure it's not an FM7? AFAIK FM6 does not exist... FM7 has a 24C01 EEPROM which does not need any battery. Yours could be borked. Mine was (but that was a different tuner and ditto EEPROM).
Edit: I stand corrected, it does exist. I expect it to also contain one of those EEPROMs.
Do you know whether that screwed-up EEPROM can be fixed/replaced/reprogrammed?
If it is a 24C01 you can just replace it as the firmware is in the controller.Do you know whether that screwed-up EEPROM can be fixed/replaced/reprogrammed?
You could simply have used a cheap FM module, but it would not have been so much fun.
You get USB, SD card and Bluetooth interface, and a remote.
It can also switch an additional aux input.
Less than $2 here without power supply, which is 5 volts, if not there a 7805 works.
