CxD500 driverstage supply Q

Hi all

Bit of of a n00b question here maybe but anyways... I have a pair of CxD500 modules from ConnexElectronics which needs "a separate voltage of 16-25V for the driver stage, referenced to V-", with V- being the main supply for the module, in my case -72V. I have +19V for the driver stage.

I'm not sure what this means exactly, do I make a connection between the GND of the 19V ps and -72V?

I've tried contacting ConnexElectronics first of course but I haven't received a reply after some time so I thought I'd try here instead.

- Also, any tips in general on building a Class D stereo amp? Ground/earth, noise, wiring dos and donts etc. This is a first for me

By "referenced to V-" that means you need a floating supply with its "ground" reference connected to the V- rail. Make sure your +19V supply can be connected like this.

Hi,

I have the same module (not implemented yet) for my subwoofer. What CharlieLaub wrote, is correct. Driver stage supply GND goes to the V- pin on the aux power connector, which is already connected to the negative supply voltage on the board so no other connections need to be done.

Safest bet would be to use a conventional small transformer plus rectifier and linear regulator supply. Or use a Connex SMPS specifically designed for these modules. I got noise in the outputs and other glitches when I used a generic cheap SMPS supply for driver stage on my Connex TA3020 board.
