Hi forum, I currently run MT130 mid horns and Eminence Delta 12a drivers as my kicker horns in my PA.
https://www.freespeakerplans.com/plans/15-plans/midtopcab/35-mt-130
thinking about rebuilding them as fibreglass horns using the same expansion as the stock horn, but wondering if running the driver reversed and the magnet as a phase plug (and extending it for proper expansion) would offer any benefits vs just running the normal direction??
currently filter them at 80>1500hz roughly. would like to get a little more upper mid if i can and not have to push the eq up to make that happen.
am i on the right track at all or by keeping the same throat size as stock horn despite phase plug will not change characteristics from what it is now??
i hope this makes sense..

i wish i had the right chops to model that in Hornresp for you.
i don't think the low frequency performance would change much but the top end would as to how much without sim is a guess.

ok, its the higher frequencies im chasing anyway. so in regard to simulating it in say hornresp, how different will the horn path be?
if i'm not mistaken the depth/thickness of the driver. the biggest change would be to throat area as the magnet occupies volume.
Yep not going to bother with changing the mt130 just going to leave them as they are and allow the new tops to extend further down than I thought.
been tinkering with hornresp, and have been looking for a suitable replacement for the Delta drivers thats a little more local.
i got my latest Delta driver in the post from USA and it had been dropped or thrown, or both, and its arrived bent and has a creased cone and im not going to be able to get a new one in time for my event on New years eve.
so the new drivers are FSaudio from VFM Audio in Australia. JB1200. basically the 12" version of my 15" thats in the SS15 horns i run for bass.
ive done some basic numbers in horn resp and have come up with this>
