I'm wondering if anyone can guide me in finding an equivalent substitute for the Fostex 206e speaker. I have found that it has been discontinued.
I'm interested in building a pair of Sachiko's from the Frugal-horn web site. The plans call for the 206e.

FE206En - Scott would be the best person to advise of any changes required due to revisions to driver's T/S parameters.
The new FE206En is close enuff in real world measurements to drop right in. Scott has taken the opportunity to refine his designs to take full advantage of the new drivers (a bit less ultimate extention at the bottom, in exchange for more midbass slam to complement the new driver's balance.

Thank you chrisb and Dave for responding so quickly!
I think I'm going to just drop the 206en's in and see how they'll do!
I'd like to build the Sachiko's for my brother-in-law's new place. He has a large room (20' x 35') that he'll be using for entertaining. I think the Sachiko's will add to some of the visual and sonic impact he's looking for. The room will probably have a large projection screen installed for movies and such. But most of the time it'll be used for listening to music, playing pool- while listening to music, and having social gatherings- while listening to music!
I hope from what I have researched, this design will fit the bill. I know I may be opening a can of worms in regards to that last statement... I guess I'll see!

took me a while to find the Starfrit ergonomic opener - 😛, but here goes:
unless the Sachiko cabinets are already constructed, you might also want to consider Scott's more recent large BLH design for the Fostex

Given the description of the venue / audience and performance situations, I think the rear mouth design might be more suited to this application.
I've heard both the Saburo and Valiant, which would be the equivalent respective models in each series for the FE126E👎, and certainly prefer the later design. If only I had a room that well suited them ...
edit: honestly, I missed Dave's above post - but the sycnronicity is a bit scary -
really, the newer designs have a lot going for them - kudos again, Scott
Well, I think I'll take your word for it. I'll be contacting Scott to set me up with some plans... then Dave for the speakers.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
The vulcans appear to be easier to build than the Sachikos.
What are the implications of the rear opening mouth - do they need
to be placed farther from the room's rear wall?

extrapolating from my builds of Valiant and Aiko (for FE108Ez), yes indeed -
of course you still need to cut all the parts the right size, and make sure you use plans normalized for your material thickness
