I'm having some difficulties finding the Altec 515, are there any suitable replacement drivers that could be used instead?
20-80Hz @110dB. (20-60 might work but 80 seems like a standard goal?)
How small can you make it if you opt for either a TH or a FLH?
What kind of driver would you need? (10",12",15",...?)
Perhaps this might be of intrest ?
Martinsson's Blog - TPAM10HT

Hello,
The floor basshorns pictured are used without any problem with a low pass crossover set at 350Hz, some of them with an active correction are used until 450Hz.
Here attached a frequency response curve for a single channel of the bass horn seen in :
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
alos the pulse response (PCM wav 2kHz) in text format.

Nice!!!
Thnx Martinsson, I've seen it mentioned before but never saw the details about the TPAM10HT.
It's interesting to see the sims for the two different drivers.
Sort of similar response even though the drivers differ 10dB in sensitivity.
It's small and it covers the 20-80Hz area. It would probably do the trick...
Thnx. 🙂

I would be interested in simulating one of the 21 or 24" precision devices woofers in one of the bass horns? would love to see a good 20 to 100hz output.
No problem markusA, I'we sofar only gotten one report back on this one, from thailand i think it was, the user was very pleased with the size to output ratio, and the 20Hz perfomance.
A friend of mine here in Gothenburg is about to build one for himself within short, and will follow the development closley, seeing as I have not built this one myself, yet.

as a Mac user I cannot use Hornresp, if someone is keen I would greatly appreciate a simulation of the PD2150 and 2450 in a Le Cleach bass stand horn. I have 5.8 metres of width and about 3 metres of depth to use. I am looking to build the horn into the ceiling, it would drop down and look like a bulkhead.

Hi Jean-Michel
Are there any plans of the under floor horns ?? or a calculator ?
Thanks in advance

just curious
Just curious
First of all.
Mr. Martinsson,
Thank you for sharing your experiments and experience with us.
I have build and test 6.5 TH Martinsson with Isophon woofers.
It sound very very good. Then I tried and install second woofer in PUSH PUSH configuration.
And result was unbelievable!!!
The sound quality and tone is hard to compare to any other sub that I heard. And amount of bass… You not gonna believe that this really small box can produce that much deep bass. Never!
I want to try to place 4 drivers and see what happens. No math.
Now.
What if in this TH10 we can install two drivers instead of one?
Thank you.

HornResp simulation
Hi Jean-Michel,
do you have a HornResp simulation for one of those stand type bass horn you shown ?
Thanks,
B.

Hello B.
Such bass horn can be considered as quasi infinite so here attached is a relevant hornresp record to simulate the horn.

Hi Jean-Michel,
after playing a bit with HR and your model, I have problems trying to compare the computed results with the dimensions of the realisations you shown : the reality seems shorter than the math ?
The gif in post#2 show a length of ~250cm and a mouth of ~200x(60?) cm = 12000cm² when the math says at least twice.
Was that intented or am I wrong somewhere ?
All the best,
Blo.

Horn and sub don't fit together too easilybuilding a sub for the lowest ocatves.
20-80Hz @110dB. (20-60 might work.........)
How small can you make it..................
Asking for a small horn and sub makes it even more difficult to attain.
Hello,
For the shape and the directivity, Hornresp is based on the hypothesis of an axisymetrical horn.
But for throat impedance and then frequency response, if the area of the wavefronts evolves the same with the distance to throat, there will be very few difference in the response of an axisymetrical horn and a floor bass horn (having a constant height).
So you can use Hornresp to simulate the response of a floor bass horn but you cannot use Hornresp to draw the plan of a floor bass horn.
To draw the shape of the floor basshorn as that one (front schematics):
http://nicolas.davidenko.perso.sfr.fr/pavillon/cyl_mur.gif
you have to use my spreadsheet for quasicylindrical wavefonts horn on my friend Nicolas Davidenko's website :

Hi Jean-Michel,
Thank you for this.
I'm not sure I understand well the gif you posted...
(a black and white design)
What is it ?
For the XL sheet,
...
ok, I understand the dimensions of the bass floor you've shown.
A question : must the "throat diameter or width" be the diameter of the speaker ?
Thx for all,
Blo
