CSS LD25X tweeter

Sorry can't help. My hearing drops out at 13k and 15k in my two ears, and I don't own measuring equipment.
I am keeping a pair of these tweeters, bc they are some of the most excellent tweeters available for money. I'm just selling my extra one.
Thank you and happy listening.

Yea. they look very good through 20K and have excellent reviews. I am dealing with an interaction between tweeter breakup excited by upper harmonics that on some recordings, can cause a "glare" in the midrange. I can make it come and go based on the tweeter behaviors and to a lessor extent by LP filter on the tweeter and between DACs.

So I ordered the CSS woofers, but Vifa tweetere.

Gotcha.
I've owned countless Vifa tweeters, both modern and vintage, and none of them are anywhere even close to really good. They are several shelves down from a something like a CSS tweeter or even SB Acoustics. I also own the smaller CSS LD22 which is excellent.
Graphs definitely do not tell the whole story.

Kraut, your last line is absolutely true!

Now, the XT25G30 and better G60 are not the finest is the world. They have to be crossed quite high or too much distortion. But if used above 3K they have very low distortion ( SB's not quite as good) and have very smooth behavior above 20K. Some do not like them for that very reason; they are too clean. They do not have exaggerated top ends. On-axis, in a real living room, they just do their job. Some think that is boring. There is one SEAS and one ScanSpeak that I almost went for, but testing my old desktops, ( RS125/XT25G30) I know the Vifa's do not have the breakup issues I am sensitive to. Safe bet.

I wish I had data on the CSS, but without data, not spending $400 on an unknown. For the same reason, I went for the CSS woofers over the Purifi. To much money for something I may not be able to hear. Purifi does not measure that well, but I have heard them and they are very good.

Of course a really good midrange, 500 to 5K, would make both woofer and tweeter selections far easier! I have yet to find one.

I have been considering moving to the dark side. DSP crossovers. This would allow easy swapping of drivers and a simpler cabinet. ( flat front). I have been hesitant due to the difference in sound from various DACs, but if that is an interaction with the tweeter, and better tweeters selections are not sensitive, then the slightly lower performance of the Mini-DSP may be "mute". A lot more money though. My first attempt was with a Behringer which went into the trash.
