I connected Crown XLS2002 directly to Laptop using 3.5jack to 2RCA cable.
I am using this to drive subwoofers.
Input sensitivity is set to .755 in crown amp.
Power output per channel is 650W@4 ohms
The subwoofers are 300W @ 4 ohms
Somehow I feel the amp is not delivering enough power.
Even if I crank full volume, the indicator light is glowing -20 only
I suspect the laptop output signal is not strong enough.
Any solution for this?
Should I use a preamp? If so which preamp?
Any suggestions please ...

could be cheaper to just buy a usb sound card for the laptop. Even the very low cost UCA202 can reach .775Vrms: https://mediadl.musictribe.com/media/PLM/data/docs/P0484/UCA202_M_EN.pdf
So the most probable reason could be the laptop is underpowered ?? (I mean most of the general laptops)
Headphone outputs often don’t put out enough signal - they are intended to drive 32 ohm loads just loud enough, but not ear splitting. The ART Cleanbox will get the levels high enough to drive a real PA rig, but they’re not really super “clean”. “Clean enough” often, but if you’re picky you’ll want something better.
Typical earphone output is between 100 and 200mV RMS.
And it also depends on program material: some MP3s and many YT Videos are simply recorded too low.

what are your subwoofers? what's their sensitivity? box type? are your woofers separated by an appreciable distance? how big is the listening space?
Hi Turk, your questions make sense. But these subs are around 90dB sensitive, and reaching full excurtion with DIY amp 200WPC. Crown amp doesn't have any fault either. So I'm guessing laptop output signal is weak.
just how are you patching from the laptop to the amp?

This looks like an interesting product. Is it only one channel or two channel.?

I used to do a lot of presentations when I worked for an AV company. Some laptops gave me a line level signal; some needed 50dB of gain on the mixer channel.
I tried 2 different laptops. One gave lot of bass, even at 50% volume in crown amp. and the other didnt give much bass even at 70% volume
Laptop sound driver issue then, not your amp...
